Commissioning

From the pages of the Periscope newspaper during commissioning in Portsmouth, NH, October 1983.

And from the Dolphin newspaper, in little less crumpled form

The local Portsmouth (NH) newspaper covering the boat's arrival for commissioning. A stuck hatch forced the mayor to take a tug in while the boat headed back out and waited for the tide to come in again. Disappointing for the crowd gathered on shore for sure, but a windfall for those crewmembers who drove up and were treated to 50-cent mixed drinks at a local bar.

And the immortal license plate, with a quote from John Wilkes Booth
